We support these missionaries and others as you give...
Greetings once again from Zambia
We are now here in Zambia almost 4 years. We have gone through many challenges here but it has been some good years for us. The kids have grown so much and continue to enjoy their time here in Africa. They enjoy a life of adventure, of course they have the challenges that every kid works through. We do our best to have daily devotion; take communion and fast every Friday morning as a whole family. This is good for us now and builds a foundation for the future.
Jette, well what can I say, a great wife and mom, I am a blessed man. She continues with home school, working with the Grace church leading a worship team and also involved with the deaf cell group in the church. Then there is me and my ‘just a little bit out there on the edge’ -lifestyle.
As for me, the adventure course that several of us put together has been a big hit. I have taken now 90 people through this course and several other groups are asking for their turn. Everyone loves the outdoors; why not use it as a tool to reach out and help people grow?
Sports Discipleship School:
The sports discipleship school just finished last week. This 5 week course was a life changing time for all. With the 32 students 8 countries were represented. We started with 32 but actually had to send several students home due to their lack of heart and accountability. School leader Kasale says Africa is 5 generations behind and we need to rise up the standards, if you don’t reach those standards go home, get on your knees, ask yourself some hard questions and come back next year.
Most mornings we ran through the streets of Kabwe in prayer and singing with the heart to see Africa changed. Africa must see a new breed of Christian to take the oppression off its people.
Our theme was ‘the cross’, this is where it all started and this is where it all ended. This is where is all must be maintained. In the end each student ran with a 7 ft cross through a portion of the community and ended up at a big 12 ft cross and there many fell down on their knees and wept. When all had run we gathered around the big cross and cried out to the Lord for the nations of Africa, great time.
All the students went home with full hearts and a new drive to see their generation reach their potential in the Lord. My prayer that they will continue in the same spirit of brokenness and the fire they left with.
One student who challenged us all was my friend Mark the Masai. Humble at heart but strong in spirit. Never gone to school a day in his life, yet he knows exactly who is and where he is going. His heart for his people the Masai is beyond measure. This is the same Mark that I go to visit once a year in Masai land in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. I will be going again in about 2 weeks time. I will be taking Dr. Imholte from the US this time.
What lies ahead in the coming months?
I have been given special invitation to participate in the biggest of Masai ceremonies. Every five years or so the young boys move in adulthood through circumcision and an act of bravery. One of those acts is killing a lion with a spear only. Very few outsiders are ever invited so I honor this opportunity and plan to go. Mark is now trying to get me what he calls ‘Masai citizenship’. This will give me free access to Masai land any time, right now it is difficult to just go any time, lots of paper work. I am praying that comes through.
This past weekend I was a guest speaker at a 4 day conference in Lusaka, the capital city, and we just had a great time in the Lord. In July I will be going by bus to Tanzania to speak at another conference.
I will be travelling again soon, May 22 – June 17, to Tanzania to do two pastors seminars among the Masai, one in Kenya and one in Tanzania. Then I will take a week and go into the Rufiji Delta again among the 22 unreached people groups. That whole area is opening up to the gospel slowly, thanks to YWAM and MAF.
Our personal financial support has really taken a big hit this last year so please keep us in mind and prayers, thank you. And as always you are always welcome to come for a visit.
Blessings till next time....
